In our opinion, a visit to one of Bangkok\u2019s famous rooftop bars is a must. Actually we don\u2019t like restaurant and bars which are too fancy. Nevertheless: There is no better place on earth to sip your cocktail than in Bangkok. These are our tips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSirocco\u201d at Lebua State Tower<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The bar of the restaurant \u201cSirocco\u201d<\/a> is one of the most popular spots in the city. Ever since the movie \u201cHangover\u201d<\/strong> was shot here, the bar is gaining in popularity. And so did the prices: Every time we visit the bar, we are wondering about how quickly the prices are increasing. Be prepared to pay around 40 Euro for two cocktails as well as service charge and tax. Don\u2019t ask how much you are going to pay if you have dinner there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the bar offers stunning views from the 63rd floor. Expect the bar to be crowded. Taking pictures is forbidden at some parts of the bar, for example at the staircase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dress code:<\/strong> <\/em>No flip-flops, no shorts or sleeveless clothing for men, no backpacks (Better follow the dress code \u2013 we\u2019ve seen guests not being admitted).
Location:<\/strong><\/em> 1055 State Tower, Silom Road, Bangkok 10500, Thailand \/\/ We recommend you to go by taxi. Alternatively, take the MRT to \u201eSaphan Taksin\u201c. From there it\u2019s only a 10-minutes walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBreeze\u201d at Lebua State Tower<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To be honest: the \u201cBreeze\u201d sky<\/a> bar is the one we prefer. It is located a few floors below, but nevertheless offers amazing views over the city. There are fewer guests, thus the atmosphere is a little more relaxed. We enjoy sitting at the bar and watching the waiters to prepare our drinks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On our last visit, we had a Mojito<\/strong> (680 THB) and a Passion Fruit Mojito<\/strong> (570THB). You\u2019ll need to pay service charge and tax as well, that\u2019s why we paid around 40 Euro for both drinks. Our cocktails were excellent! As said before: the atmosphere is lovely. What we also do appreciate: You\u2019ll be offered a hot towel as soon as you sit down. A few years ago, we also got some tasty nuts (which made Romeo smile), but unfortunately we didn\u2019t get them during our last visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Long Table at Column Tower<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Long Table<\/a> is a restaurant and a bar on the 25th<\/sup> floor. It is not as high and not as popular as other roof top bars in Bangkok but nevertheless offers nice views. The prices are lower than in other bars: We paid 350 THB for a large cocktail, though it wasn\u2019t as delicious as the other ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The atmosphere<\/strong> is more laid-back, which we liked. There is an indoor as well as an outdoor area with some tables directly situated at the balustrade. The views are not as impressive as in other rooftop bars, but still very nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dress code:<\/em><\/strong> Officially no flip flops and no shorts for men, but a friend of us was admitted even though he was dressed like this.

\u201eMoon Bar\u201c at Banyan Tree Hotel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Compared to all the other bars mentioned above, \u201eMoon Bar\u201c at Banyan Tree offers a spectacular 360 degrees view<\/strong> over the city. The bar itself is rather small.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our cocktails \u2013 one Mojito<\/strong> and one Lychee Martini<\/strong> \u2013 were delicious. Together we paid 1300 THB. You\u2019ll be offered a choice of nuts which we enjoyed a lot. According to the small space, the atmosphere is more lively than in other bars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dress code:<\/strong><\/em> Like almost everywhere: no flip-flops, no shorts and sleeveless shirts for men, not too athletic.

“Above Eleven” at Fraser Suites Sukhumvit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An insider’s tip! We loved this rooftop bar! “Above Eleven” is not as fancy as other rooftop bars in Bangkok, but it is still beautiful, charming and comfortable.<\/strong> The drinks are delicious and affordable.<\/strong> You\u2019ll be offered some peanuts which we enjoyed a lot. Above Eleven also is the perfect choice in case of rain: The built-in roof protects you against rainfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dress code:<\/strong><\/em> “semi-casual” which means: men are not allowed to wear tank tops or flip flops.

“Three Sixty Lounge” at Millennium Hilton<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The view from the 32nd floor over the Chao Praya River<\/strong> is stunningly beautiful, despite the fact thath this roof top bar is not as high as others. There is a indoor area as well which we didn’t visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prices are above average, especially considering the fact that the bar isn’t as fancy as others. A Cosmopolitan<\/strong> was 450 THB (plus tax and service charge). A Singha Beer<\/strong> was 300 THB (plus tax and service charge), which is around 10 Euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Octave Rooftop” at Marriott<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Attention: there are several Marriot Hotels in Bangkok, so be sure you are heading to the right one! Octave Rooftop bar is one of the higher ones. The bar is located from the 45th to the 49th floor.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You’ll probably get the best view from the highest level, but unfortunately it rained when we were there so we were not able to get the view. However, we didn’t really like the indoor area. Somehow it was kind of dark and uncomfortable, which was sad because the outdoor area seemed to be amazing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
